WV Mingo County School Bus Truck Accident Leaves One Dead
Matewan, WV — A crash between a truck and a West Virginia Mingo County school bus happened around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. The accident occurred on King Coal Highway, close to Mingo Central High School.
The seven students on the bus and the bus driver were taken to the hospital. Thankfully, their injuries appear to be not life-threatening. A photo published by the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department shows the bus on its side and an almost unrecognizable truck.
The preliminary reports indicate that the school bus crashed into a service truck. However, the investigation into the bus and truck accident is still under investigation by the Mingo County sheriff’s department and the West Virginia state police and is ongoing. The driver of the truck died. However, the driver’s name was not immediately released.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved, including the families of the truck driver who died in the accident.
