Rain Leads to Several Car Wrecks Today in Charleston, WV
Rain after Dry Spell Increases Risks of Car Wrecks
Several auto wrecks occurred this morning in the Charleston, WV metro area. According to the Charleston Gazette-Mail, a dispatcher from Kanawha County Metro 911 said car crashes happen more frequently during morning rush hour traffic when its raining and it hasn’t rained in a while.
Some drivers may get used to driving on dry surfaces and fail to make adjustments when it rains. Driving the same speeds on wet, slippery surfaces inevitably leads to crashes.
A tractor-trailer jackknifed this morning and shut down Interstate 77 southbound. Fortunately no injuries were reported.
Drivers are warned to be especially careful while traveling on the West Virginia Turnpike and Interstate 64 between Institute and Teays Valley.
