WV I-64 Crash in Work Zone Causes Serious Injuries

Dunbar, WV — Two people, including an employee of the West Virginia Division of Highways (DOH), were injured in a work zone accident on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. The crash occurred on Interstate 64 near Dunbar, West Virginia.
The accident occurred when a vehicle crashed into a DOH dump truck. The authorities transported both drivers to the hospital following the accident. The DOH dump truck driver was released after obtaining treatment. However, the accident caused the other vehicle’s driver to suffer several broken bones and other injuries.
The accident occurred even though the Dunbar, West Virginia work zone was clearly marked with traffic cones and sign boards. Following the accident, The West Virginia Department of Highways urged drivers to pay attention while passing through work zones, remain cognizant of signs and other safety devices, and refrain from cell phone use.
