A Deadly West Virginia Crash on Red House Hill
Red House, WV — Unfortunately, early Monday morning, around 5:45 a.m., a local man was
killed in a head-on automobile collision on Red House Hill. The deadly crash happened by Cossin’s Exxon in Putnam County, according to news sources.
The victim has been identified as Adam Shawver. He was 26 years old and a 2006 graduate of Poca High. Adam is survived by a wife, son, parents and other family members. A Memorial service for Mr. Shawver will be held on Thursday, October 16th.
The collision happened as another vehicle was making a left turn into the Exxon station. Mr. Shawver was driving over a hill when he was then unable to stop in time to avoid the other vehicle. The hill likely created a blind spot. He hit the other driver head on. Mr. Shawver’s vehicle was then hit by the car traveling behind his.
The woman in the vehicle hit by Mr. Shawver’s car was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital. There is no word on her condition yet.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Shawver’s family. We wish them much peace and comfort during this difficult time. Also, we wish a full and speedy recovery to the injured woman in the other car.
Safety Tips from West Law Firm
Uneven terrain or pavement impedes drivers’ ability to make timely stops in case of an unexpected event. Local drivers who are most used to the neighborhood are especially at risk – familiarity tends to make us let our guard down and pay less attention to the road. The safest course of action whenever you have less than perfect visibility of the road ahead is to slow down.
